This month we have been talking to Kegan Harrison, Head of Collectors at Tennants Auctioneers in Yorkshire  about how he came to be involved in the wonderful and varied world of Toys and Collectables.

 Where do you work ?

Tennants Auctioneers

What is your job title?

Head Of Collectors

What time did you wake up ? What are you usual working hours?

6.30am; Mon-Fri 8.30-17.00

What are your key tasks ?

Preparing items for sale by auction (sorting, valuing cataloguing)

What was your career path to this role ?

Started out working for my uncle (an antique toy dealer) as a summer job, was still their 5 years later and then moved on into auctions

What are the best and worst things about your job ?

The best is the unpredictbility. Ever day if different, new things to see and people to meet; always exciting! This can also be the worst aspect as when a deadline looms it is impossible to know how much time is available to get the job done

What careers advice would you give to your 18 year old self with the benefit of hindsight?

Do what you enjoy doing

Have you had a secret job that is not on your CV ?

I was a carpet fitter (briefly and not a good one)
