Job description:

Exciting opportunity for an experience arts communications professional to join an international contemporary gallery in London as their Director of Communications.

Responsibilities of the role include:

PR

  • Oversee communications for gallery’s European projects, including but not limited to the exhibition and events programmes and PR support with selected  museum exhibitions
  • Establish strategy and implement PR campaigns for projects, internal exhibitions and general corporate PR as relates to London, in collaboration with external PR agency
  • Distribute press releases to targeted media
  • Support the global PR team for Frieze art fairs in London
  • Manage London gallery relationship with external PR,act as daily point person
  • Foster relationships with key journalists
  • Write press releases for exhibitions, art fairs and special projects as relates to Europe
  • Draft briefings for staff / artist interviews
  • Oversee interviews, photoshoots and arrange copy approval with journalists
  • Plan and deliver press events in London
  • Represent the gallery at UK events, as required

Marketing

  • Promote events programme in London
  • Oversee production of marketing and sales materials for London exhibitions, events, offsite projects and related activities including digital content, partnerships and print materials both in-house and in liaison with external designers

Digital

  • Contribute to social media campaign plans as relates to Europe
  • Draft exhibitions and events emailers for London

Management

  • Manage the European communications department including the Communications Assistant in London

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Experience in commercial gallery or PR agency
  • Proven track record of achieving press coverage
  • Educated to degree level, preferably in arts or humanities subject (BA required)
  • Excellent written and communication skills, as well as analytical organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent skills in Adobe CS5,particularly Photoshop and InDesign (essential), working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Mac OSX
  • Additional languages are desirable
  • Experience of working in an international company is preferred
