Job description:

Exciting opportunity to join a blue chip gallery as an Exhibition Coordinator.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with artists on expectations for the exhibition and requirements for installation and implement these in discussion with the Artist Liaison
  • Coordinate the fabrication of work, framing and sourcing of specific material for the purposes of the exhibition
  • Research and purchase material for show-change as requested
  • Draft installation schedules for discussion internally
  • Conduct fabrication research specific to show-change
  • Liaise with Technical Coordinators and Workshop on show-change specific fabrication
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers on the requirements for show-change, obtain quotes, send plans and schedules
  • Book contractors and suppliers to work during show-change
  • Liaise with shippers or Warehouse to book transport and organise local shipments for show-change
  • Book equipment as required by the Exhibitions team for show-change
  • Work with Warehouse/ Registrars on returning works post Exhibition and local/ long term storage
  • Liaise with Operations to discuss special uses of gallery spaces
  • Liaise with Exhibitions Registrar on scheduling of movement of artworks for exhibition
  • Update exhibitions lists and show-change archive/ records
  • Generate Exhibitions Overviews with coordinators for internal reference
  • Maintain ‘sample’ library (carpets, paint, fabric etc) to assist with future show-changes
  • Generate and update exhibition budgets and track costs against the budget
  • Manage technicians in the build-up to and installation of exhibitions
  • Respond to internal requests relating to the artist and the exhibition
  • Manage artist’s time during installation alongside the relevant Artist Liaison
  • Create computer renderings of galleries for internal and artist’s reference
  • Prepare models for artists to help them with placement of works
  • Support Exhibition Coordinators on fabrication projects as required Fabrication during show-change
  • Oversee fabrication projects, including Liaise with artists on expectations, requirements etc. and ensure these are met by the fabricators and suppliers
  • Research and purchase materials; track orders and update budgets and inventory; ensure system is updated with framing status, costs and specifications
  • Refer fabrication costs to Artist Liaisons/ Directors as necessary for authorisation
  • Co-ordinate framing of works in consultation with the Fabrication Coordinator
  • Liaise with Registrars, Sales, Artists Liaisons and Archives regarding scheduling of fabrication and shipment of works
  • Liaise with the Warehouse Manager, Registrars and Artist Liaisons in relation to storage, collection and movement of the selected artist’s works
