Our client is a commercial art gallery based in Ghana, West Africa.  With a curatorial focus on contemporary West African art, the gallery presents a programme of exhibitions, installations and performances by the country’s most significant artists.The gallery has evolved from over 15 years of private collecting. It offers both local audiences and international visitors the opportunity to discover new artists, and to gain a deeper understanding of the breadth of their practice through exhibitions and off-site projects.


Gallery Manager

We are seeking and experienced Gallery Manager to working closely with the Gallery’s Founder, Artists and Communications Agency. The candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Gallery based in Ghana.


  • Must have at least three years’ experience working in a commercial gallery
  • Background in contemporary art essential with strong knowledge of the global scene, preferably in contemporary African
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. French would be useful.
  • Self-starter, multi-tasker, well-organized, and able to work independently
  • Strong sense of initiative



  • Develop thorough understanding of the Gallery’s roster of artists, programme and objectives
  • In depth knowledge of contemporary art
  • Contribute creative and brand development ideas
  • Represent the gallery through networking
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Manage the Gallery Assistants / front desk Admin
  • Updating gallery contacts, artwork databases and e-mailing list subscriptions
  • Ensuring all gallery artist CVs are kept up-to-date
  • Managing and maintaining gallery’s image library and archive
  • Managing and updating the website – adding new exhibitions, ensuring artists’ pages are current, adding new images, creating pages for new artists
  • Online mail-outs and newsletters
  • Arranging hotel/flights/itineraries for visiting guests as required
  • Ensure that all fair applications are submitted on a timely basis  


  • Artist liaison
  • Exhibition organisation and administration
  • Overseeing the production of exhibition catalogues
  • Coordinate art fairs
  • Assist with private views and events management
  • Overseeing the installation and de-installation of exhibitions


  • Handling of client enquiries with regards to the sales
  • Building up client relationships
  • Invoicing of sales
  • Coordination of shipping
  • Monitoring inventory
