Job description:

Our client, a regional auction house in the north, is looking for an Jewellery Cataloguer to join their small team. They are looking for a junior- or intermediate-level jewellery cataloguer, ideally FGA/GIA (or similar) qualified, although assistance will be given to someone who wishes to gain qualifications.

Our client has ambitious plans for their business and their team, and they are looking for a committed, organised, energetic, flexible, motivated and enthusiastic team player. The successful candidate must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the monthly jewellery, silver and watch auctions
  • Cataloguing for sales, including household, specialist and antique
  • Handling and recording condition reports
  • Familiarity with auction software back-office systems, online bidding platforms, real-time auction bidding and timed auctions
  • Pre- and post-sale administration awareness
  • Support the securing of new consignments in house and at valuations, together with support for business building and growth opportunities
  • Relationship building and maintaining existing client relationships
  • Work with the photographers in a timely manner to meet auction deadlines
  • Maximise all opportunities to grow the business through social media, advertising and trade awareness
  • Support other aspects of the business as and when required, being adaptable to working longer hours and weekends if required to

Requirements:

  • The ability to engage with new and existing clients at all levels is essential
  • Experience in a similar role within an auction house is essential
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential
  • An ability to multi-task and prioritise a busy workload in order to meet deadlines is essential
  • An ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative is essential
  • A full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred
  • FGA/DGA/GIA G.G.qualification is preferred
  • Familiarity with auction software back-office systems, vendor management, online bidding platforms, real-time auction bidding, timed auctions and consignment procedures
  • Speak and write fluently in English
