Job description:

An international contemporary art gallery based in Mayfair, is looking for a Full Time Accountant to join their team. The role is varied and will cover both Accounting and Administrative responsibilities within the business.

Finance Responsibilities:

  •  Manage day to day bookkeeping and account reconciliation
  • Oversee accounts payable – process incoming invoices, set up weekly BACS, reconcile supplier statements, etc.
  • Work closely with Director to ensure KYC compliance procedures are undertaken and met for all relevant transactions
  • Prepare weekly cash flow statements, monthly profit and loss statements, and other reports as requested
  • Assist with quarterly VAT return and management reports, and monthly EC Sales List
  • Assist Business Director in tracking exhibition and project costs and producing related financial reports
  • Maintain accounting records including invoices, expenses, payments and transactions
  • Manage petty cash, process staff expenses, and reconcile company credit card statements
  • Staff Payroll and Pension Administration
  • Preparing the daily summary of bank balances
  • Updating sales and purchase movements in stock database
  • Uploading supplier invoice information onto stock database

Administrative Tasks:

  • Producing employment contracts
  • Dealing with suppliers’ and other contracts
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified – ACCA, CIMA or AAT
  • A number of years’ experience as an Accountant / Book-Keeper working in and SME environment
  • Highly proficient in math’s, with outstanding numerical skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent excel and data entry skills
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure, using a logical and methodical approach
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of SAGE strongly preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of VAT Margin Scheme and VAT import and export regulations would be a bonus
