Job description:
Our client is an independent auction house which sells Maritime Models, Artefacts, Collectables and Navigation and Scientific Instruments on a biannual basis. The business is looking for a new Administrator and Cataloguer to join the team. The role involves dealing with all the day-to-day running a specialist auction.
The role provides an excellent environment to learn in detail all aspects of the auction process. Including, but not limited to:
- Property Management – Receiving items from clients, issuing receipts, labelling and storing items safely
- Entering property onto the auction system “GO” including images and descriptions
- Dealing with enquiries by phone, in person, via the web and by email
- Coordinating valuations
- Finance administration – maintaining expenses for the accountant
- Liaising with external PR on social media posts
- Creating adverts on illustrator
- Keeping the website up to date
- Shipping
- Coordinating the production of the catalogue
- Research and cataloguing could be included
- Assistance with all aspects of auction day
About You
- Previous experience in an auction house or dealership
- Ideally a graduate with a relevant academic background – such as art history
- Tech savvy including basic design, use of databases, websites etc
- Highly organised , good at creating, maintaining and improving administrative processes
- Good people skills
- A sympathy for the subjects would be helpful
- Self-directed , happy to work for periods alone , or in a small team
