Job description:

Our client, an established and internationally renowned gallery in Berlin, is looking for an Artist Liaison. The Artist Liaison will work with several internationally renowned artists represented by the gallery. The jobholder will work independently under the direction of the Artist Liaison Directors and in close collaboration with the gallery’s Production team, as well as the artists and artist studios. The position will be full-time, from 10am to 6pm daily, Tuesday to Saturday preferred (Monday through Friday possible), in addition to attendance at openings and events.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate projects with artists’ and their studios for fairs and exhibitions (internal & external exhibitions)
  • Establishing intensive relationship with artists’ and providing a supportive structure
  • Selection and procurement of works of art for sale
  • Mediation of artists’ to collectors, collections, curators, museums and institutions
  • Sales mediation and development of gallery clientele
  • Proactive involvement with and development of German market and institutions
  • Travel on behalf of the gallery to attend exhibition openings of specific artists

Related administration:

  • Project and budget management for internal and external exhibitions and special projects of specific artists
  • Liaison with the gallery’s Production, Registrar, Content and Sales Teams to prepare new works for sale
  • Maintenance of gallery inventory, including loans and consignments, in collaboration with aforementioned teams
  • Preparation of sales material in collaboration with aforementioned teams. Filing documents: on server and physical binders (artworks and projects, maintenance of gallery archive)

Skills and requirements:

  • Several years’ experience working in the fields of Artist Liaison in a gallery, a museum or an artist studio
  • Ability to travel
  • The jobholder must be highly structured and have excellent communication and organisational skills; ability to see projects through to completion
  • Ability to work well both as part of a team and independently, under own direction
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality


  • Minimum Bachelor´s degree in art, art history or comparable course of studies – Master´s degree preferred
  • Language skills: German fluent, English fluent
  • Proficiency in basic computing, including Microsoft Office software and database management software
