Our client is a leading international contemporary publisher, dedicated to expanding contemporary art’s audience and reach, and tracing the ways it interacts with culture in general. Aimed at both a specialist and a general audience, the publications feature a mixture of criticism, reviews, commentary and analysis alongside commissioned artist projects, guides and special supplements. The business develops and hosts regular events, ranging from talks and screenings to launches and conferences at venues around the globe. In addition they curate live events and programmes for galleries, nonprofit institutions, art fairs, major art festivals. In addition they offers high-quality content and creative solutions to select global brand-partners, including bespoke events, contract publishing of books and supplements, high-spec video and podcast content, and much more.

Due to growth in the South East Asian business we are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Business Development Executive / Publisher to lead and grow its presence across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. This senior role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, forging strategic partnerships, and managing client relationships across a broad spectrum of cultural and commercial players—from art fairs and galleries to institutions and brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities and strategic collaborations across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
  • Actively pitch media products, events, and partnership opportunities to institutions, commercial partners, and cultural organisations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, collaborators, and stakeholders across the art ecosystem.
  • Represent the company at major international and regional art events, fairs, and conferences—requiring regular travel.
  • Work closely with the editorial, events, and marketing teams to deliver integrated campaigns and custom partnerships.
  • Report to the  Director in London and contribute to long-term regional strategy.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in business development, partnerships, or sales within the arts, culture, publishing, or media sectors.
  • Strong understanding of international contemporary art, with particular familiarity with the Asia-Pacific and Middle Eastern art scenes.
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial partnerships, publishing, and advertising is an advantage.
  • Comfortable with frequent travel and representing the brand in high-profile environments.

Fluent in English (additional Asian or Middle Eastern languages a plus).
