Job description:

Our client, a leading institution for photography exhibitions, is looking for a Co-Curator to develop the exhibition program.

Tasks:

  • Co-management and strategic development of the exhibition program
  • Co-management of the curatorial team
  • Conception and realization of temporary exhibitions and accompanying publications
  • Development and organization of educational programs
  • Budget management of exhibition projects
  • Assist with applications for funding
  • Image research (historical and contemporary)
  • Actively participate in the further development of the institution’s profile
  • Representing the foundation in the media and at events in Germany and abroad
  • Maintenance and expansion of an international network

Requirements:

  • Completed degree in art history, image science or an equivalent humanities subject (PhD or MA) with proven expertise in the field of photography
  • Several years of professional experience in curating photography exhibitions in a cultural institution, including editorial work
  • In-depth knowledge of the cultural debates and theoretical discourses in photography
  • Experiences in public and private procurement practice
  • Proactive networker
  • Independent, structured and precise project management skills
  • Academic writing skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Fluency in German is not essential but highly desired
  • Very good communication skills
  • Team-oriented leadership qualities
  • Confident user of the common Office programs for Mac as well as Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp
  • High level of commitment and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Availability to travel
