Our client, a contemporary gallery in London, is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join their busy team.

Person specification:

  • Hold a degree or higher in history of art or a related subject
  • A minimum of 3-4 years related experience in arts communications
  • A proven, established network of arts-press contacts
  • Must be confident speaking to the media
  • Exceptional written and oral skills

The successful candidate will lead on the gallery’s communications strategy, planning and implementing press, marketing and social media campaigns, amongst other communications-related tasks.

Responsibilities

Marketing & communications:

  • Develop and implement the effective delivery of a global market and communications strategy
  • Manage e-announcement schedule in line with programmes, and create and send to external mailing lists
  • Liaise with artist managers and liaisons on gathering key information for upcoming exhibitions and programme
  • Create assets for exhibitions, and work closely with the Artist Liaison team to ensure website is up-to-date with correct images
  • Develop and implement a cohesive social media strategy for the gallery exhibition programme, ensure social media platforms are up to date with correct information as per exhibition programme
  • Maintain and develop good relationships with media partners, and oversee content on all external digital platforms
  • Oversee marketing and advertising contracts, including subscriptions and listings, and work closely with gallery directors on budgets and costs
  • Oversee the design and creation of all advertising and marketing assets, with the support of external designers / producers as required i.e. artist videos
  • Liaise with gallery artists and studios as required

Public relations:

  • Manage and implement PR campaigns for the global exhibition programme
  • Work closely with gallery directors on PR strategy, setting targets and goals for each exhibition
  • Responsible for achieving national and international press coverage for exhibitions
  • Primary contact for all incoming image requests and press enquiries
  • Manage all press deadlines, ensuring these are clearly set and communicated to the team
  • Manage and maintain press mailing lists
  • Carry out detailed press images and PR information to international press contacts
  • Prepare and distribute press images and PR information to international press contacts
  • Manage and oversee press previews and special events as required
  • Working closely with the Exhibitions department to prepare all press materials and send to press contacts as required, including press releases, press packs and digital assets
  • Manage press activities for art fairs and external events as required, including press outreach and support
  • Track and archive press coverage
  • Prepare, update and circulate press cuttings
