Job description:

Our client, a busy and leading auction house, has an exciting opportunity for someone seeking to enter into Compliance & Risk within the art and antiques sector. The main purpose of the role is to provide compliance assistance to ensure all legal, regulatory and governance obligations are met.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting client due diligence checks, including interpreting, and escalating any screening results.
  • Administration of the compliance files and conducting periodic audits.
  • Responding to compliance queries  (e.g. KYC documentation requirements, anti money laundering information, provenance issues of items for sale) from company staff.
  • Assisting in submitting export licence applications for objects sold at auction.
  • Ensuring compliance policies and procedures are followed and assisting with the management of compliance projects (e.g. IT initiatives, reporting).

Key skills:

  • Previous professional experience within Risk & Compliance is advantageous but not essential. You must have hunger for knowledge and a passion to learn about all things compliance within the art sector.
  • IT literate, proficient in MS Office and quick to learn new systems.
  • You must be a confident communicator and have good interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • You must be able to conduct a thorough research, be process driven and analytical, and have excellent attention to detail.
