A leading international auction house specialising in historic and collectible property is seeking an experienced Consignment Director – Americana & Political Memorabilia to join its team. With a strong global footprint and a reputation for excellence across dozens of collecting categories, this organisation offers a dynamic environment for specialists passionate about history and political collectibles.

The Role
This full-time position is responsible for evaluating property, acquiring consignments, and building lasting client relationships within the Americana and political memorabilia category. The Consignment Director will play a key role in catalog production, marketing, and the auction process, contributing directly to the growth of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate property and establish appropriate auction estimates

  • Acquire consignments through existing networks and independently generated leads

  • Research, authenticate, and catalog Americana and political memorabilia

  • Proof catalog text, images, press releases, advertising copy, and client communications

  • Market auction lots to targeted collectors and clients

  • Expand and maintain the client database

  • Respond to client inquiries before, during, and after auctions

  • Travel to meet clients and review property for potential consignment opportunities

  • Actively participate in live and online auctions

Candidate Profile

  • Significant experience at a major auction house or as a commercial dealer specialising in Americana and political collectibles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Strong knowledge of Americana and political memorabilia markets

  • Self-motivated, outgoing, and independent professional with a proactive approach

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong multitasking ability with exceptional attention to detail

  • Highly organised, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-project environment

  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and follow established standards

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset
