Job description:

We are looking for a Creative Lead to work in close partnership with an established contemporary artist, to provide support to the artist and their production team, helping to ensure that fabrication deadlines are met and that the making of artworks in the studio runs smoothly.

The Creative Lead will be responsible for the artistic direction and the day-to-day production in the multi-disciplinary studio, the role will require strong artistic leadership and management as well as a hands on creative approach.

The position requires an individual capable of working both independently and collaboratively as part of the studio team, whilst also maintaining close communication with the artist. The position also requires an understanding of artist’s studio environments, and knowledge of fabrication, materials and production techniques.

Previous experience of managing the creative activities in an artist residency programme or artists’ studio or collective would be beneficial. Hands on experience working with a range of different materials is essential.

Candidates must be willing to relocate as this will be a full time, studio based role. A competitive compensation package will be offered.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Experience working in senior multi-disciplinary arts and leadership, including international experience, preferably at an artist Studio.
  • In depth knowledge of artist studio processes and art handling methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, and directing the artistic aspects of production and presentation techniques across multiple genres, venues and locations.
  • An understanding of current production issues and relevant trends across multiple streams of arts and creativity.
  • Proven ability to manage projects to budget and provide clear financial analysis with respect to project costs and revenue potential.
  • Natural ability with creative processes relevant to the specific specialist requirements of a multi-disciplinary artist.

  • A commitment to work collaboratively with the artist and studio team.
  • An interest in African art and Culture would be beneficial.
