Decorative Arts Specialist, Established Regional Auction House

We are seeking a Decorative Arts Specialist for an established Auction House in the West Country. The Decorative Arts Specialist will be responsible for the valuations, cataloguing and viewings within with the Decorative Arts Department. Candidates with good contacts in London may be considered for a hybrid London-West Country posting.  This role would suit someone with a few years of experience as a generalist.

Responsibilities will include :

Valuations

• Perform valuations for auction, probate and insurance
• Prepare and deliver valuation proposals to secure consignments
• Arranging and managing valuation days

Cataloguing

• Cataloguing items for sale
• Producing of condition reports

Auctions and Viewings

• • Attend and participate in auctions and viewings

About you:

• The candidate will have good generalist experience in a similar role within an auction house
• The ideal candidate will have a special interest in the fields of Interiors & Decorative Arts, in particular 20^th century British Design and Pottery
• The ability to drive is essential
• Highly developed client management skills are essential
• Having existing contacts within the market place is preferable
