An Arts Foundation which supports Asian Art and culture in the UK is looking for a Director to join the team.
The Director will to continue implementing the Foundation’s ambitious vision. The Director will play a vital and active role in building new relationships with a wide range of specialists and organisations to maximise project opportunities which align with the Foundation’s strategy and aims. The candidate will also be responsible for developing, managing and delivering the Foundation’s grant application scheme and reporting to the Board of Trustees.
Additionally, this role will play a crucial part in meeting the foundation’s future needs, as it expands and diversifies the philanthropic initiatives and expands its impact in various fields, such as healthcare, education, and community development.
Key Responsibilities:
- To maintain and further the Foundation’s position as one of the leading champions of Asian art and culture in the UK.
- To work closely with the Trustees of the Foundation and to implement the agreed strategies and conduct ongoing assessments to ensure long-term growth.
- To evaluate grant proposals, identifying potential partners and gathering the viability of projects to present findings to the Board of Trustees and colleagues.
- To propose and research collaborative or in-house projects and present findings to the board of Trustees and colleagues.
- To represent the Foundation internally and externally, being a critical advocate for the Foundation’s projects, its vision, and its ambitions via networking, speaking at events, etc.
- To contribute to the creation and delivery of marketing and communication activities including content for the Foundation’s website, social media platforms, newsletters and promotional material.
- To manage and present the quarterly Board meetings and ensure the trustees are up to date and informed of the Foundation’s activities.
Person Specification:
- Essential Degree in Arts and Culture subject, with specific knowledge of Asian art
- Ability to manage, plan and prioritise projects and their budgets, against deadlines and challenging timetables
- Experience overseeing budgets and business planning
- Ability to review grant proposal budgets and contracts on time
- Ability to ensure that projects are undertaken on the basis of sound business cases and to conduct regular assessment
- An understanding of charity finances and policies, alongside the current funding climate in the global art sector
- Experienced in writing contracts, project business case, scope documents and formal reports
- Established contact base in this arts sector in the UK/internationally
- Previous expertise with leadership, relationship management, project management, museum or teaching experience either in a voluntary or professional status
- Highly flexible and ability to adapt to new and changing situations
Desirable Experience
- Working with a board of trustees and charity governance
- Experience working with Foundations and grant reporting
- Experience using Photoshop, InDesign and practical competence in the use of digital technologies, for example: media production including basic image, audio and video
