Our client, an internationally renowned art fair, is seeking an Events & Operations Manager.  The person in this role will have both external and internal facing responsibilities, ranging from event and fair management (contractor relations, fair operations and event production) to liaising with other relevant members of the fair team across exhibitor relations, marketing and sponsorship, in contributing to the overall success of the fair/s, with a particular focus on events and operations.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic event professional, who has a keen interest and understanding of the international art market. Detail orientated, with excellent organisational and communication skills, this role will suit a team player who has a flexible approach to tasks and who can work effectively under pressure. As part of small team, this is role requires a “hands on approach” and collaborative attitude.

The role combines managing all operational aspects of the fair and paid for 3rd party events (excluding partner/sponsor/patron activity) at the fair and during the year with the proactive development of events as a key developing revenue stream.

Key Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the operational execution of the fair/s, including planning permission, build up and breakdown, onsite operations during the fair, host/hostess recruitment and management and post event reviews
  • Develop and execute the organisation’s sustainability strategy and initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new / existing contractors and suppliers, across operations and hospitality
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure all operational aspects are delivered within budget, on time and to the fair’s high standards
  • Prepare the Exhibitor Exceptional Access and Delivery schedules
  • Prepare the onsite signage schedule


  • Work with team to create event “packages” to take place at the fair and potentially during other periods of the year
  • Pro-actively sell these to corporate / institutional targets in the run up to the fair, working with returning guests and building new contacts
  • Oversee the production and execution of all fair’s onsite and year round events in liaison with the team

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrable significant event manager / operations experience
  • Excellent IT literacy including Excel, Word, Dropbox and Google Drive
  • Highly organised
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritise and to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of managing event Health & Safety and creating risk assessments
  • Experience of managing project budgets on target
  • Excellent attention to detail

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience of Event Site Management
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Health & Safety Qualification (such as IOSH)
