Job description:

An established Arts Communications Agency in London are looking for an Executive to join their team.

Role Description

The Executive will support the team and clients by providing analysis on media coverage and relevant trends and events. They should demonstrate a good understanding of the client’s business, strategy and communication needs, and use an appropriate style and tone for all communications with clients. They will contribute to and where possible lead the production of high calibre materials, showing great attention to detail. They are responsible for ensuring media databases are up to date, making changes where necessary, and for compiling initial media lists for campaigns, to be reviewed by the Account Director and Associate. They are responsible for undertaking thorough research on behalf of clients, or the company new business drive and are also expected to engage with media at relevant points within a campaign.

The Executive ensures the smooth running of projects, making sure that all logistics for client meetings and events are executed clearly and efficiently. Execs nurture a network amongst peers inside and outside the firm.

Client Contribution and Handling

  • Has a good working relationship with the client and has earned their trust
  • Is proficient in carrying out thorough research and media monitoring, including distribution of relevant media coverage accordingly
  • Able to produce high quality “account essentials” to deadline (biogs, action reports, agendas, corporate snapshots, briefing notes, media reviews)
  • Able to draft and proactively manage certain key client documents such as communications calendars, press releases, Q&As, key message documents
  • Contributes to brainstorms and pitch preparation (including research and drafting)
  • Ensures all client meetings, announcements and events are well organised and properly resourced (drafting materials, creating agendas and timetables, booking and managing media calls, arranging dial-in details, venue set up)
  • Strong overview of relevant cultural media output – via published media and social networks, and regularly shares useful and relevant content with the broader team
  • Able to contribute to the development of accounts in terms of ideas, direction and content
  • Plays an active role in feeding through market intelligence to the client
  • Ensures that all client accounts and folders are efficiently organised and labelled

Communication Skills – Engagement with Media and other audiences

  • Understands the client’s media universe and the key contacts within it
  • Is working to establish a network of media and other stakeholder contacts within the cultural and corporate sectors
  • Understands all relevant sector/ client newswires and key media; proactively monitoring and sharing coverage
  • Is able to compile, organise and distribute media lists
  • Organises at least 2 journalist meetings per week

Continuous Learning

  • Able to brief journalists on all of the agencies clients at any given time, and actively seeks to improve knowledge and understanding of them
  • Attends private viewings and other related events on a weekly basis
  • Actively seeks to build knowledge of a range of artforms
