Job description:

A rare opportunity has arisen to join a gallery in Taos, New Mexico as Executive Director, to oversee all aspects of marketing and sales of artworks within the gallery. This includes communication with clients, managing exhibitions, maintaining online presence, creating promotional materials, and implementing sales strategies. This role requires effective communication skills, attention to detail, a deep understanding of art, and a true passion for driving sales and developing client relationships.

The gallery represents the estates of several significant artists, as well as private and public collections.

Required:

  • Fine arts academic background is a plus (Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Arts Management, Art History, or a related field).
  • Has passion and drive to grow artists’ markets and sell art.
  • Strong understanding of art and art market dynamics.
  • Considerable sales experience in the contemporary art market.
  • Demonstrable experience in generating significant sales revenue and working with auction houses, private collectors, and institutional buyers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Not required to live permanently in Taos, NM but must be willing to spend a significant amount of time onsite planning, selling, and cultivating relationships with buyers, galleries, and artists.
  • Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
