Job description:
An international contemporary art gallery is looking for a Finance Manager in Paris, responsible for all accounting functions across exhibition spaces in the US, Europe and Asia. The position will report directly to the International Group Finance Director (in London) with a second reporting line to the Senior Director of the Paris Gallery.
Key elements of role:
Reporting
- Full ownership of the quarterly closing process, annual reporting requirements and external audits
- Ensuring financial systems are in accordance with group policy, IFRS and local GAAP
- Preparing management information for projects and departments
- Analysing opportunities for cost efficiencies in local operating expenditure
- Liaising with external tax advisors for corporation tax, VAT returns and other taxes
Treasury
- Analysis of cash position and cash flow forecasts
- Point of contact for banking relationship
- Monitoring inward cash receipts
- Processing payments for purchases and operating costs
Responsibility for general ledger
- Record revenue and manage the revenue cycle
- Maintain and update information relating to supplier accounts
- Post transactions relating to operating costs ensuring appropriate accounts and relevant information are captured
- Communicate with other internal departments and external suppliers regarding any information outstanding
- Process expense reports
Artist Accounting
- Managing artist and consignor accounting for local sales, including artist statements, purchase invoices, payments
Systems development
- Participate in the continued automation of the finance systems to create a modern ERP infrastructure, including transition to automated accounts payable system and enhanced data analysis
Qualifications for the role
- Several years of progressive experience in accounting role
- Experience with complex ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 desirable but not essential) In-depth knowledge of VAT
- Good communication and analytical skills
- Ability to organize and prioritise duties
- Strong level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in small team within a fast paced environment
- Fluent in French and English
