Finance Manager, Internationally Operating Gallery

Our client, an internationally operating gallery, is looking for a Finance Manager. The ideal candidate will be an important part of their New York team and will oversee the various finance functions for the gallery, working closely with the global finance team. The postholder will bring strong financial management and analytical skills, alongside the ability to operate with the other departments within the gallery.

Responsibilities:

• Sales invoicing
• Monthly sales tax reconciliations and submissions
• Advise sales team on commercial deals and sales tax implications as required
• Responsibility for accuracy / completeness of the sales and purchase ledger
• Work closely with colleagues to complete month end close process, including posting of journal entries, preparation of account analyses
• Preparation of monthly management accounts and analysis for review and consolidation
• Financial analysis and reporting for the management team as required
• Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts for the company in New York and as a whole
• Oversee submission and reconciliation of credit card expenses for the NY team
• Artist accounting for sales
• Work with external payroll provider on bi-monthly payroll and 401k
• Work closely with registrar team regarding the movement and release of artworks
• Liaise with US tax advisors, accountants where required
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, standards and other relevant legislation
• Other ad-hoc duties as required

Person Specification:

• Several years prior accounting and finance experience, ideally working in a gallery or other art world organisation
• Relevant accountancy qualification or qualified by experience
• Excellent communication skills and a professional manner
• Detailed knowledge / understanding of sales tax
• Strong eye for detail
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience of SAGE accounting software would be an advantage
