Job description:
On behalf of an established Art Dealer we are looking for a full-time Gallery Assistant to work in an all round role supporting the activities of the dealership. The role is varied and duties will include:
Office Administration / Secretarial
- Maintaining and running the office’s general administration
- Maintaining the existing filing system and database
- Basic bookkeeping and working with accountant
- A good knowledge of art shipping is required (shipping procedures, export licence, CITES, Ivory certificate, etc
Gallery Work
- Confident in being able to hang a painting and prepare frames for display
- A good visual eye detail, previous experience in handling artworks
- Working with graphic designer on publications
- Working with scholars on research
IT requirements
- A very confident It user, proficient in the following applications: Microsoft Office and Photoshop, previous experience with ArtScene would be useful but not essential.
PA to the Owner
- Some PA work required (travel arrangements, hotel bookings etc.)
Key skills required:
- Some prior experience working in gallery type environment would be preferable
- A general knowledge of various areas of art required
- Being extremely accurate, efficient and meticulous
- Careful and used to handling fragile works on paper and textiles
- Comfortable dealing with collectors, curators, scholars, restorers, photographers, shippers etc.
- Self-motivated and happy to work on their own
- Trustworthy, mature, responsible, and extremely discreet
- Good communicator
Working hours
9.30am – 6pm Monday to Friday
The job requires the applicant to work at least 4 days in West London, with the option of working from home on one day

28 days (which includes bank holidays)
Salary
£35k-£40k depending on experience
