Gallery Manager, London (Part-time)

Job description:

An international contemporary art gallery, representing emerging and established artists and is a regular exhibitor at major international art fairs is looking for a Gallery Manager to join their team.

The gallery, which is open by appointment, has an international programme staging exhibitions in London and New York.

Freelance Appointment: 3 days/week & Additional Days when required by agreement

Responsibilities include:

Working with the Gallery Director to provide seamless support in the day to day running of an art gallery.


  • Sales at Art Fairs and Exhibitions (some travel required)
  • Local & international client follow up
  • Keeping track of sales leads
  • Managing Sales on Art Logic
  • Registrar duties, organising delivery and installation quotes with preferred shippers as required
  • Representing the gallery and attending events

Gallery Management:

  • Updating Art Logic with new consignments of artworks (artist liaison)
  • Managing inventory and updating locations
  • Maintaining Database
  • Organising exhibition and art fair logistics
  • Admin support for Gallery Director and keeping Directors diary
  • Liaise with suppliers to build strong working relationships

Marketing & PR:

  • Updating Gallery Website and Artsy
  • Pulling client lists for postal marketing
  • Managing gallery’s e-communications & providing additional content for social media
  • Organising and preparing material for press including drafting PR releases
  • Researching and developing collaborative international opportunities for artists


  • Assisting the bookkeeper with monthly bank reconciliations using SAGE (training to be provided)
  • Assisting with end of quarter VAT filing – under guidance of Bookkeeper
  • Assisting with artist remittance admin

The gallery are looking for a driven, flexible, creative and hands-on person who enjoys working for an international gallery.

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Self-motivated with a meticulous attention to detail
  • Able to prioritise a varied workload and use initiative to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of art history and interested in working with artists
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, as well as analytical, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Art Logic, or equivalent database, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel
  • Booth Design software (desirable)
