General Valuer, Regional Auction House

Our client, a regional auction house in the north, is looking for an experienced General Valuer to join their small team. They have ambitious plans for their business and their team, and they are looking for a committed, organised, energetic, flexible, motivated and enthusiastic team player. The successful candidate must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities:

• Dealing with pre-sale and post-sale enquiries
• Pre- and post-sale administration
• Securing new consignments and actively engaging with business getting
• Relationship building and maintaining existing client relationships
• Cataloguing and Valuing items for sales
• Production of condition reports
• Providing valuations in-house, online and at valuation day events
• Attend and participate in auctions, viewings and other off-site events
• Maximise all opportunities to grow the business through social media, advertising and trade awareness
• Support all aspects of the business from household sales to the specialist classic car and motorcycles

Requirements:

• The ability to engage with new and existing clients at all levels is essential
• Experience in a similar role within an auction house is essential
• Excellent attention to detail is essential
• An ability to multi-task and prioritise a busy workload in order to meet deadlines is essential
• An ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative is essential
• Competency with online bidding support, timed auctions and launching new auctions is essential
• The ability to drive is essential
• The ability to use Easy Live software is preferred
• Business getting experience is preferred
• A good knowledge of furniture, ceramics and paintings is desirable
• Specialist experience is preferred
• Auctioneering experience is preferred
