Our client is a London Auction House comprising a small friendly team who have earned an enviable reputation for selling interesting and high quality antiques, jewellery and collectables, often sourced from private local collections. Due to growth in the business, and the opening of the new saleroom in September, an experienced General Valuer is required.
Your role will encompass visiting clients, carrying out probate valuations, and cataloguing and coordinating bi-monthly Fine Art auctions. The successful applicant will have worked in an auction house for a number of years in a valuer capacity. We are particularly interested in applicants with knowledge in specialist fields as well as a good general knowledge of antiques. The idea candidate will be passionate, diligent and will possess excellent written and organisation skills. Excellent computer literacy and a high level of customer service is essential.
Part-time (four days per week) will be considered for the right candidate.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conducting valuations
- Cataloguing items for sale
- Dealing with pre-sale enquiries
- Preparing for and participating in viewing days
- Probate valuations
Experience:
- This role would suit a General Valuer with previous experience – a specialist area of expertise is advantageous but not essential
- You should enjoy working in a small team and be happy to pitch in as needed
- Auctioneering experience advantageous
- Computer literate
- Driving licence and access to a car is essential
