Our client, a provincial Auction House in the North of England which prides itself on excellence, is seeking a General Valuer to join their small team, and to work under and alongside the owner with two other junior / trainee auctioneers and valuers.
The successful applicant will have previous experience in valuing and cataloguing in an Auction House, and will also have a breadth of knowledge across the spectrum of collectors’ items to fine art. Experience on the Rostrum is preferred. Junior candidates / and those with limited auction house experience will be considered if the candidate can demonstrate they have a good foundation, strong underlying talent and ambition. Training is provided. This is an excellent opportunity with long-term prospects for the right person.
Responsibilities, working as part of a team, include, but are not limited to:
- Dealing with pre-sale and post-sale enquiries
- Cataloguing towards monthly auctions
- Production of condition reports
- Auctioneering
- Pre-and post-sale client / customer liaison
- Pre- and post-sale administration
- Training junior colleagues
Qualities expected, skills and experience to date include:
