Job description:

A contemporary gallery in Paris is looking for a Global Press Manager to join their expanding team.

Working closely with the Communications & Marketing Director, the Global Press Manager will be in charge of worldwide press relations and will have the following responsibilities:

Press/public relations:

  • Establishing the overall press strategy and ensuring optimum media coverage for the gallery’s international exhibitions and fairs
  • Definition of priorities and optimization of Press & PR actions with the media, in liaison with the Director of Communications & Marketing and local galleries
  • Primary point of contact with the local press agencies and freelances responsible for delivery timely, complete, and responsive two-way communications and updates
  • Organizes regular gallery-agency meetings and updates to align local vs global activities; Ensures local tactics are planned, executed, and aligned with the global strategy
  • Builds and maintains a secure and lasting relationship with journalists: organizes meetings, interviews, editorial/web pitches; manages and prioritizes press requests
  • Coordinating the creation and distribution of press tools with graphic designers and local galleries: press kits, press releases, guidelines, roll-out of press campaigns in each country, liaison with agencies, briefings and debriefs.
  • Monitoring and analyzing global press coverage following international press campaigns/events. Coordination and enhancement of press reviews, creation of reports for distribution.

Events:

  • Creation and follow-up of international events for the press in connection with the galleries
  • Management of tailor-made events (cocktail parties, openings, evenings, conferences, breakfasts, etc.), providing expertise and creativity in terms of resources and tools (program, logistic)
  • Managing and welcoming press guests (guest lists, follow-up mailings, seating plan)
  • Management of press event communications (mailings, invitation cards, etc.) in conjunction with the Communications & Marketing Department and development of event support tools
  • Back-planning, coordination and supervision of teams and external service providers, ensuring that deadlines and contractual obligations are met
  • Strengthening and developing partnerships

Internal Communications:

  • Sourcing and collating information to produce the monthly internal newsletter
  • Daily monitoring of media coverage and promote it internally / externally
  • Independently and proactively solicits new developments from artist liaisons on a monthly basis

Other Responsibilities:

  • Establish central Press & PR budget, allocate funds to each gallery according to strategy agreed with the Communication & Marketing director. Continually monitor spend reporting of all Press & PR budgets.
  • Lead the negotiation of external Press & PR suppliers as group press agency, monitor and manage their performance.
  • Consolidate the gallery’s Press & PR lists, regularly assess and clean lists removing dead/bounced emails and assessing improvements
  • Monitoring the life of the team: organizing meetings, monitoring press material and invoicing.
