Job description:

An art tech start up is looking for a Head of Business Development to lead and deliver their new Gallery Partnerships Programme, ensuring maximum success to their clients. Your main responsibility will be revenue generation and relationship management, being accountable for driving better integration and alignment between all sales-related functions. Primarily this covers the commercialisation of the product across the short-medium-long terms, including setting services, go-to-market and sales strategy, pricing, revenue management, and customer success.

You will be responsible for setting up and developing a sales structure, including the management of a growing sales team. Together with the heads of the other departments (marketing, finance, technology, etc.) and the CEO, you will develop the company’s goals and align sales with them. It is expected that you will work closely with the CMO, continuously feeding back learnings from sales prospects on how to improve the product to ensure sales enablement.

Role Overview

  • Identifying, pursuing, and closing new business sales opportunities in order to deliver subscriptions revenue growth targets
  • Maintaining up-to-date and accurate sales administration and reporting
  • Maintaining regular and timely follow-up with your leads throughout the sales process
  • Translating feedback into customer-focused value propositions internally, with an impact on Product development
  • Set, execute, and report on aggressive new business pipeline strategy and goals
  • Be active within the art market industry to increase awareness g. attending events such as art fairs, exhibition openings and keeping up with art market trends
  • Propose and articulate alternative ways of creating real value for clients by assessing opportunities and highlighting the company’s areas of strength, competitive pricing and points of difference
  • Hire, nurture, and performance manage a team of world-class sales talent

Person specification:

  • Considerable experience in a leading sales role (preferably in a B2B sales and/or in a SaaS company) within a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter attitude with an entrepreneurial mindset, focused on strategic thinking and relationship building (prior experience in a startup technology company a plus)
  • Proven track record of generating high volume revenues and driving business results against targets
  • Good industry knowledge of the primary art market (artists, galleries, sales platforms, art fairs, ). Past experience in the art business is mandatory.
  • Existing relationships with leading and taste-maker galleries worldwide
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and customer management skills
  • Ability to use data to drive improved customer acquisition strategies
  • Collaborative mindset, with experience working cross-functionally with marketing, product and tech
  • Experience as a line manager of a team of sales representatives
  • Fluency in English, with a second language as a plus
