Job description:

Our client, a service provider to the Arts sector, is looking for a Head of Development. You will be responsible for all fundraising and related activities of one of their flagship projects. You will also be in charge of creating and executing development strategies and tactics for the successful identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors across all funding areas including individuals, foundations, corporations, and government entities.

Finally, you will manage, develop, and inspire a comprehensive membership programme (corporate and individual), government and foundation grants programme, events, donor relations, and the day-to-day administration of gifts. In addition, the Head of Development will be responsible for developing and implementing the project’s social responsibility and sustainability policy.

Requirements:

  • Master‘s degree in a relevant subject
  • A keen interest and knowledge of contemporary art and environmental topics
  • Have extensive practical experience at a senior level of fundraising from all principal areas of private sector support and knowledge of public sector funding, as well as a good network of potential donors
  • Have experience in the development of corporate and individual membership programmes
  • An analytic skills set and the ability to lead, carry out, and communicate error-free analysis, and the ability to develop strategy based on analysis
  • High degree of organisational skill with ability to handle multiple projects in various stages of development
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage time, juggle multiple duties and tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility in management style to understand and subtly adjust to complex, highly skilled staff, both in the curatorial and support department
  • Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude in a dynamic and creative setting
  • Exceptional judgement, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive situations and matters
  • Ability to form and maintain successful working relationships with Museum staff and other stakeholders
  • Proven fluency in budget preparation, management, reporting, and cost control
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and other standard office procedures and skills
  • Fluency in English and Italian essential. Additional languages welcome
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, exercising a high level of discretion and initiative
