Our client, an innovative contemporary gallery, is seeking a Head of Sales. The Head of Sales is responsible for driving sales across the gallery exhibition programme, and will also head up their new Institutional Acquisitions programme. They work alongside the Gallery Director to develop a strong network of collectors and clients with specific interests in the artists showcased. They are responsible for building long-term relationships with collectors and institutions in an effort to create new business opportunities for the gallery, which will ultimately facilitate growth and expansion within the business.

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing the Gallery’s sales strategy along with the Gallery Director
  • Initiating ways to enhance sales and profitability of the Gallery
  • Introducing new client relationships to the Gallery and maintaining established relationships in collaboration with Directors
  • Driving sales for Gallery artists on the primary market
  • Bringing in consignments of work for sale on the secondary market and driving secondary market sales
  • Leading weekly sales meetings to update the team of prospective and settled business
  • Representing the Gallery at art fairs and exhibitions across the UK and globally
  • Identifying, reporting and maximising on business opportunities in target markets
  • Attending high profile networking events, entertaining clients outside of usual Gallery hours and travelling where necessary to enhance client development
  • Liaising with the Gallery Director to ensure smooth operations of the Gallery
  • Work closely with the Gallery Director on all eternal exhibitions (including museums, foundations and associate galleries)
  • Push for Institutional acquisitions for Gallery Artists
  • Manage art fair applications and participation from start to finish, ensuring all deadlines are met in a timely manner
  • Support on-going promotions and advertising of the gallery and being an ambassador for the brand at all times
  • Proposing new artists for the Director’s consideration and gallery management solutions to help save money or help the business expand
  • Keep up to date with industry developments and market trends and drive a culture of learning and art knowledge amongst the team
