We are looking for a Head Technician and Facilities Manager for a contemporary gallery in London. The person in this role will develop and manage a team of technicians to coordinate all day-to-day art handling and exhibition programme requirements working closely with the Exhibitions Manager and Registrar. They will be responsible for the maintenance of all buildings facilities working closely with the wider team as well as contractors and third parties to ensure upkeep of the space and compliance with health, safety and fire regulations at all times.
The ideal candidate will be highly organised and able to deliver projects to tight deadlines with minimum supervision. They will have a keen ideal for detail and have the ability to quickly learn, self-research, and adapt to new technology. They must also have excellent verbal and written skills and have experience in leading a team.
Person specification:
- Experience of safely handling and packing artworks with vast knowledge of installing artworks with great attention to detail
- Experience in building maintenance and general repairs
- Ability to develop technical skills in the areas of audio-visual, lighting and sound
- Ability to work in physically demanding situations, including working at heights and moving heavy objects
- Strong practical and problem-solving skills with strong IT skills and good administrative skills
