Job description:

A leading regional Auction House is looking for a Jewellery Assistant and Cataloguer, testing precious metals and describing items ready for the auction catalogue, in a vibrant and exciting jewellery department in one of the country’s leading regional auction houses, based in Essex, roughly 30 miles from London and within walking distance from a train station

Prior cataloguing experience in a jewellers or pawn brokers is essential, as is having a strong ability to assess jewellery with good research skills. Gemology qualifications are an advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Test precious metals and gemstones
  • Cataloguing jewellery for sale
  • Writing condition reports
  • Organising photography
  • Assisting with saleroom preparation and lotting up for sale
  • Working closely with the team to understand customer drivers and help maintain an industry leading service

This is not an exhaustive description, and the position may require additional duties to ensure the business need is met, deadlines are adhered to and ensure the effective running of the auction rooms.
