One of the UK’s leading auctioneers, renowned for their dynamic and diverse portfolio of sales spanning fine jewellery, art, antiques, and modern design are seeking an experienced Jewellery Specialist to lead and expand the department.
This is a full-time, saleroom-based role, ideal for a passionate and knowledgeable professional who thrives on precision and client engagement. The successful candidate will provide expert valuations for auction, probate, and insurance purposes, both in the auction house and during client visits. They will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the jewellery department across at least four dedicated sales annually—including cataloguing, photography, and curation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate valuations of jewellery for auction, probate, and insurance
- Catalogue, research, and photograph jewellery items to high professional standards
- Curate and manage the jewellery section within specialist sales
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with private clients and trade contacts
- Identify and source high-quality pieces for inclusion in future auctions
- Work to tight deadlines and contribute positively as part of a close-knit team
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in an auction house or jewellery valuation environment
- Ideally FGA / GIA or equivalent qualification
- Strong background in gemmology, antique and contemporary jewellery, and market trends
- Excellent research and cataloguing skills with keen attention to detail
- Confident in delivering valuations and engaging with clients face-to-face
- Proficient in relevant IT systems and digital photography
- Holds a full, clean UK driving licence
- Auctioneering experience is desirable but not essential
Package:
- Salary: Negotiable (depending on experience)
- Bonus: Performance-based bonus payable after each sale (4 times annually)
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
- Location: Full-time, based in the saleroom
