Our client is a growing auction house based in the South East of England in commuting distance of London. Due to growth in the business they are seeking a diligent and enthusiastic person to join the Jewellery Department as a Specialist. This is a full-time position, although part-time and flexible working may be considered. The Jewellery team will be responsible for growing and developing the department in line with the companies objectives for the year ahead. There is a possibility for this role to become Head of Department , depending on experience.

Duties to include:

  • Valuing fine and costume jewellery
  • Consigning for jewellery auctions, as well as the general and fine sales
  • Booking appointments in and out of the office
  • Undertaking insurance, probate and market appraisals
  • Taking an active role on viewing days
  • Taking an active role on auction days
  • Meeting, building and maintaining relationships with vendors and buyers alike.

Key skills for this role:

  • Experience valuing jewellery, ideally in an auction environment
  • Confidence in dealing with clients and vendors
  • Keen organisational skills
  • Commercial awareness of the auction world
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Fantastic teamwork and independent working skills
  • Communication skills both internally and externally
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suites and numerical skills
  • A can do, flexible attitude

Job requirements:

  • FGA and DGA qualified is preferred
  • Full clean driving license and use of a car
  • Full or flexible working is considered
