Job description:

Our client, a regional auction house in the east of England, is seeking an experienced Jewellery Specialist to take charge of and develop the jewellery department. The successful candidate would be responsible for gathering consignments as well as cataloguing for the sales. The salary for this role is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Dealing with pre-sale and post-sale enquiries
  • Pre- and post-sale administration
  • Securing new jewellery consignments and actively engaging with business getting
  • Relationship building and maintaining existing client relationships
  • Cataloguing Jewellery
  • Production of condition reports
  • Providing valuations in-house at valuation day events
  • Attend and participate in auctions and viewings
  • Auctioneering as and when appropriate

Requirements:

  • Excellent attention to detail is essential
  • Experience in a similar role within an auction house is essential
  • An ability to multi-task and prioritise a busy workload in order to meet deadlines is essential
  • An ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative is essential
  • Computer literacy is essential
  • The ability to drive is essential
  • Jewellery cataloguing experience is essential
  • A relevant jewellery qualification (GIA G.G. or FGA) is essential
  • Business getting experience, and the ability to engage with new and existing clients at all levels, is essential
  • Auctioneering experience is preferred
