Job description:

On behalf of an established cultural institution we are looking for an experienced Live Events Manager. The role is for an initial period of 6 months and is expected to be 3 days per week. The Live Events Manager will deliver a rich diverse and inclusive  platform for thought provoking  and imaginative engagement. The team includes  a youth programme  and public events programme, working across formats including lectures, Q&A’s, performances, workshops and broadcast. This role would suit someone with a strong background in delivering events in a cultural space.

Key Objectives:

  • Manage the final stages of on-site production and delivery for a range of  live in-person and hybrid events for adults and young people.
  • Work closely with Live Programme programmer/producers to ensure that event delivery is consistent with the programming intentions, and aligned with the clients approach to Access, Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Maintain positive and effective working relationships with a diverse range of freelance artists, creative practitioners and subject specialists to ensure an enriching and enjoyable programme for audiences.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Where necessary, work with Programme Producers to support onsite preparation, including arranging and facilitating site visits and trialling room set ups.
  • Work with Programme Producers on the creation of production documents, including risk assessments, moderation plans, contributor briefings, production and delivery schedules, to allow for a smooth handover between planning and delivery.
  • Manage the final stages of preparation in advance of delivery day, including preparing event briefing sheets, finalising access requirements, liaising with contributors and confirming internal operations (Visitor Experience, AV, Facilities, Catering).
  • Manage event delivery on the day, briefing and coordinating delivery teams, managing contributors, and working to make sure the event runs to plan.
  • Work closely with Visitor Experience team to ensure a high standard of visitor experience at all our events – seeking advice where appropriate, keeping the team informed and working collaboratively on delivery of events.

Background / Experience:

  • A track record of managing on-the-ground delivery of public-facing events within a range of contexts (such as lectures, Q&As, performances, workshops or broadcast).
  • Experience of working with a wide range of collaborators including external artists, researchers, and public figures.
  • Experience working with a youth audience in a cultural context.
  • Experience working across internal operational teams within a large organisation (Desirable).

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • An understanding of a range of event delivery processes.
  • An understanding of delivering events that are inclusive and accessible to contributors and audiences
