A contemporary gallery in London is looking for a Marketing Director to lead their marketing and digital team. The Marketing Director is a key member of the senior team, responsible for overseeing and guiding the gallery’s entire marketing strategy, ensuring all efforts align with the gallery’s overall brand and business objectives. As Brand Guardian, you will be well versed in the art of cultural ideation and storytelling, and will be responsible for helping to craft the future positioning of the brand and cultivation of its audiences. In tandem with brand strategy, you will define, implement and optimise the gallery’s marketing and growth strategies.
You will balance both creative and analytical tendencies, with a flair for cutting-edge design and aesthetics, a keen interest in human psychology and decision-making, and strong written and analytical skills. You will be passionate about analysing and understanding audiences, competitors and market dynamics – being insight driven. The ideal candidate will be tech-savvy with an extensive understanding of new digital technologies and marketing, communication and sales channels. You will also have a keen business outlook and be committed to providing effective solutions maximising return on investment against given objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
BRAND
- Conceptualising, planning, developing and implementing marketing strategies and initiatives that reinforce brand awareness and visibility in the market
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of the luxury consumer market, and the art market in particular identifying the needs and approaches required to evangelise the decision makers and the mass audience
- Responsible for driving the evolution of our brand positioning, tone of voice and visual identity, bringing it to life in a clear and consistent way that resonates with and motivates their target audience
- Set and direct all creative strategy, coming up with original and innovative campaigns with a clear focus on storytelling that sets the gallery apart from others in the industry
- Working closely with the rest of the team to set exceptional standards of visual and conceptual content at all times
- Working closely with the Head of PR & Communications to raise awareness and brand perception among key constituencies, generating sales leads and creating opportunities for key brand
- Identify unorthodox brand building strategies and daring to push the gallery into novel creative territories
STRATEGY
- Design and implement growth strategies that will increase the gallery’s market share, improve client acquisition and retention, artist confidence and increase overall audience engagement
- Responsible for all digital strategy positioning the gallery as an innovator and challenger to the press and public
- Set clear objectives and goals, research and define target audiences, bringing strong analytical and big picture thinking to develop marketing campaigns and contact strategies aimed at increasing client loyalty, retention and lifetime value
- Working with the Head of Content to ensure the content strategy across all channels is in line with the overall marketing strategy
- Working closely with the Sales Director to ensure marketing and sales departments are aligned, facilitating strong communication and working on a consistent feedback loop
- Working with sales to achieve revenue targets with a clear map of the sales funnel and how marketing efforts convert clients into sales
- Responsible for translating business objectives into long and short term marketing objectives, setting targets and clearly reporting and delivering on ROI spend
- Regular reporting on KPIs using information from Salesforce, Hubspot, Google Analytics
- Responsible for allocating marketing budgets to various channels to support the marketing strategy, and forecasting and monitoring spend to ensure budgets are adhered to and used most effectively
TRENDS & INSIGHT
- Responsible for keeping the rest of the business up to date with trends, and creating a culture of ‘sharing’ – promoting awareness of best-in-class marketing campaigns and applying these insights along with data analytics gained from our social and digital activities to make critical decisions and recommendations to help the company meet its objectives
- Collecting, interpreting and sharing internally customer insight on the gallery’s products and related activity working closely with the sales team to develop relationships with key clients
- Identifying areas for innovation and change within the business in relation to the marketing
LEADERSHIP
- Responsible for line management of the entire marketing
- Working directly with senior management and taking full ownership of the marketing budget
- Responsible for building out the marketing function
- Collaborating and leading across the organisation contributing to the growth of the company
- Representing the voice of the consumer bringing your insights to cross-functional stakeholders across product, design, user/purchase experience, tech engineering, and executive leadership.
