Job description:

We are looking for an Operations Director for an international Art Gallery in Paris representing modern and contemporary artists.

Based in Paris, and reporting to the Global Managing Director, the person in this role will support the worldwide operations and play a central role in the development and growth of the gallery. You will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Paris Galleries with the aim of ensuring their efficient operation and overall success.

Main responsibilities

  • Identify growth and development opportunities for the Galleries, and propose strategic initiatives to persue them in conjunction with General Management
  • Maintain an extensive professional network in the art field and develop strategic partnerships
  • Establish, supervise and coordinate the operational activities of the gallery
  • Set up and ensure the implementation of policies to maintain high quality standards across all galleries
  • Coordinate and manage the various operational projects in conjunction with the various stakeholders
  • Be the point of reference for the Gallery Managers, in terms of resolving day-to-day problems and, more specifically sensitive issues
  • Provide support and advice to local teams
  • Lead teams and monthly meetings by department (e.g. Gallery Managers, Editors, Graphic Designers, Registrars, etc.)
  • Supervise team recruitment in conjunction with Human Resources and Gallery Managers
  • Evaluate individual and collective performance, and take steps to improve results and the professional development of teams
  • Work with other departments, such as Marketing and Finance, to ensure effective coordination and the achievement of objectives
  • Review, validate and negotiate contracts, such as exhibition contracts, art sales contracts and loan agreements. Main point of liaison with the gallery’s law firms

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management or Engineering
  • Proven experience in a similar position
  • Management and leadership skills, with a proven ability to supervise and motivate teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong adaptability
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to make proposals
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to take strategic decisions
  • Knowledge of the financial and HR aspects of running an art gallery
  • Knowledge of IT tools and management software
  • Fluency in French and English
