Job description:

Our client, an international gallery for Contemporary Art, is looking for Registrar for 38 hours, Monday to Friday. Meal vouchers and a travel stipend is available.

Responsibilities:

  • Inventory control & logistics: Organisation and execution of all international (extra-European) logistics including insurance, packing, customs, transportation, storage, installation, and dismantling relating to consignments, loans, sales, art fairs, and gallery exhibitions
  • Exhibitions & art fairs: Lead efforts and be involved with the shipment, installation, maintenance, and dismantling for all art fairs, gallery exhibitions, private viewings, and other special projects as required
  • Facilities & vendor management: Oversee and direct maintenance of gallery premises and mechanicals, including control of associated suppliers, vendors, and contracts
  • Exhibition logistics: Organising the production, packing, shipping and mounting for the gallery
  • Coordination of all logistics between the artists, and the various branches of the gallery
  • Maintain high standards in collection storage, maintenance, conservation and insurance, including loans and acquisitions. Coordinate exhibitions, produce scenographic elements, manage freelance teams
  • Manage stock: annual inventory, update database, respect conservation rules, manage pick-up and delivery orders
  • Manage costs related to the entire operation: tools, external art handlers, transport, packaging, framing
  • Manage the movement of works: pick-ups and deliveries to the gallery and supervise them in our external storage locations
  • Organise national and international shipping
  • Carrying out condition reports. Follow up on restorations
  • Manage all documents related to the proper management of the library: loan contracts, consignments, condition reports, restoration reports, insurance certificates, pick-up and delivery slips
  • Follow up and carry out maintenance work on the buildings. Coordinate repairs and workers’ efforts as needed and liaise with installation suppliers, alarm system, ventilation, locksmith, cleaners, etc.
  • Work in conjunction with Editions department to support the logistics of shipping. Ensure the proper preservation, handling and storage of the editions

Requirements:

  • Ability to manage the gallery assistant and external art handlers
  • Knowledge: import-export customs, preventive conservation, insurance of works, loan contracts/leaves and all documents related to logistics (list of works, list of parcels, proof of delivery, retro planning…)
  • Knowledge of software: Artlogic, Sketchup, Microsoft office suite, Apple environment, Gmail
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Desired experience in a gallery or museum
