An internationally renowned artist studio is seeking an experienced Manager of Research and Communications to lead a team of 4+ within a studio of more than 35 designers, architects, anthropologists, biologists, engineers, art historians, curators, and musicians working in the hybrid environment of workshop, studio, research group, and community hub.
Working as the head of the existing Research & Communications team, you will define the departmental workflow, managing and mentoring team members. Setting strategic long and short-term departmental goals with the artist and Studio Manager, you will establish and supervise project-specific work plans: assigning and reviewing Research and Communications tasks and managing allotted hours and deadlines while ensuring the review and approval of all Research and Communications materials align with the artist’s availability. You will furthermore blueprint longĀ term structural improvements to studio websites, social media and applications with the artist and Studio Manager. In addition, you will be responsible for coordinating publication projects.
You will also act as a key member of the wider studio, piloting the interdepartmental Archive. Working with team members from each of the studio’s five departments, the studio Archivist, Studio Manager, and artist, you will direct organizational improvements to the physical and digital Archives in line with the artist’s future goals. Through thoughtful implementation, you will manage the interdepartmental workflow of the Archive in coordination with other Heads of Department, Studio Manager, and Archivist, in addition to a focus on the supervising proper archiving of all Research and Communications related materials.
Appropriate candidates will have several years of experience managing a team across a diverse range of simultaneous projects, with a proven ability for critical and analytical thinking, as well as attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Excellent English writing and communication skills are a must.
