A contemporary gallery, based in the outskirts of Paris is seeking an experienced Sales Director to lead the branch and drive its commercial growth within the French and international art market.
This role combines a strong focus on collector engagement and sales strategy with responsibility for the operational management of the Paris gallery space.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working within the contemporary art ecosystem, established relationships with collectors, curators, and institutions, and a proven track record of generating sales and building long-term partnerships.
The Sales Director will oversee the Paris team (including a Gallery Manager) and work in close coordination with the headquarters to align exhibitions, fairs, and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Collector Relations
- Develop and implement strategies to expand the gallery’s collector base and achieve sales targets.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with collectors, curators, art advisors, and institutions in Paris and internationally.
- Personally handle sales negotiations and follow-up with collectors.
Market Development
- Leverage existing networks to identify new opportunities, both within the Parisian art scene and globally.
- Actively participate in art fairs, gallery openings, institutional events, and VIP programmes to position the gallery as a key player in the market.
Operational Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Paris gallery and ensure smooth coordination with the HQ team on logistics, programming, and communications.
- Supervise the Gallery Manager and ensure a high standard of client service and gallery presentation.
Fairs & Exhibitions
- Coordinate sales preparation and follow-up for art fairs and exhibitions, in collaboration with the HQ team and exhibiting artists.
- Maintain and update sales records, CRM systems, and ensure timely reporting of sales performance.
Strategic Collaboration
- Contribute to overall gallery strategy, working closely with the founder and senior management to align Paris operations with the gallery’s international objectives.
- Share regular market insights and collector feedback to inform programming and commercial strategy.
