Job description:

An internationally gallery for contemporary art is looking for a Sales Director to join their team.

Tasks:

Sales                                                                          

  • Conduct primary and secondary market sales of artworks from the gallery’s exhibitions, art fairs and inventory. Expected to achieve an annual minimum of US$ $3,5m of sales profit.
  • Advising a wide range of international clients including private collectors, institutions, foundations and museums
  • Build the gallery’s active client roster including private and corporate collectors; museums and institutions; dealers and auction houses; and other potential clients
  • Work with the Managing Partner and other sale associates on developing and delivering the regional sales strategy

Artist Liaison

  • Liaison with artists and responsibility for supporting them in all aspects, including exhibition planning both inside and outside the gallery, museum relations and production
  • Maintain strong relationships with museums and curators as well as a deep familiarity with international institutions. Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of the artist’s work, their practice, and their studio. Advocate for institutional exhibition and project-based opportunities
  • Assist with the development of the gallery’s artistic program, including representing the gallery at art fairs and gallery exhibitions. Attend national and international openings of artists in the gallery’s program, including those at other galleries, museums, etc
