A gallery exhibiting forward thinking presentations of international artists of all medias are seeking a sales person with a strong international client base of private collectors, institutions and foundations. The candidate will need to have a commitment to the gallery and ensure that all sales are pre-approved by the gallery director.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a similar role in a gallery or art advisory firm, along with extensive knowledge of art history, contemporary art, and the art market. We are looking for someone who is well-organised, detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently.
Candidates with a desire to grow within their role and with the gallery are especially favoured.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop / maintain existing relationships with private collectors as well as institutions and foundations
- Meeting and relationship building with new private collectors
- Meeting and relationship building with new institutional collection managers
- Offering and selling works by the artists of the gallery roster
- Offering and selling works from the gallery exhibitions
- Strategising which clients to offer which works, depending on their collection
- Strategising timing of works being offered
- Travelling to fairs the gallery is participating in
- Art fair sales and fair follow up with private collectors, institutions and foundations
Required:
- Existing international client base of private collectors, institutions and foundations
- Previous experience working in a similar role in a gallery, or art advisory firm
- Extensive knowledge of art history, contemporary art, and the art market
- Fluent in English, any additional language is a plus
- Candidates must be well organised, detail-oriented, reliable and able to work independently
