Senior Jewellery & Watch Specialist

We are recruiting for a Senior Jewellery and Watch Specialist, for an established and market leading auction house. This is a key role in the London office to consign items of Jewellery and Watches for auctions. You will provide valuations to clients and assist with promotional viewings and event. It is the ideal opportunity for someone to join a small but growing dynamic team.

What the role entails

• Provide valuations for customers walk-ins online capacity, clients homes, business premises with a view to consign items to auction.
• Work pro-actively with the International Head of Jewellery to secure consignments for auctions
• Assist with promotional events both at the London Office and within the London area
• Assist with viewing and sale days, including telephone bidding if needed.
• Work closely with the Jewellery and Watch departments to ensure the auction deadlines are met
• Maintaining client relationships with existing clients
• Manage the activity of the Specialist Jewellery Valuer on the team
• Manage the activity of the Jewellery Admin Assistant
• Work closely with the Jewellery and Watch departments to ensure the auction deadlines are met
• Liaise with the marketing team, providing insight on marketable content for consigned items

Your personal qualities:

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent
• Recognized gemological qualifications (FGA/DGA/GG)
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft products, especially Excel
• Strong administrational and organizational skills
• A positive, can-do attitude –approachable and enthusiastic.
• Ability to multi-task
• Positive and proactive approach to tasks and set processes
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Proven experience valuing Jewellery and watches (or just one discipline)
• A broad knowledge of Jewellery and Watches (or just one discipline)
• Willingness to conduct research
• Enthusiasm for attending networking events
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small team.
• Show willingness to learn and go the extra mile.

The experience you would need:

• Previous Management Experience
• A demonstrated passion for Jewellery and watches
• Knowledge of (or experience within) the auction process
