On behalf of a leading auction house we are searching for an experienced Senior Operations Manager to join the team. This is a hands-on but senior role which will form part of the management board. The successful candidate will manage day to day operations across the three premises to ensure service delivery so that sales management can attain their revenue targets and best-in-class client service standards are achieved.

You will also contribute to the wider operations leadership of the division as a member of the senior leadership team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of business strategy/goals/priorities to ensure the requisite operational needs are met
  • Lead, motivate, and support the Administrative, Reception teams and Casual viewing staff ensuring they are working toward the same goals/target
  • Organise and oversee day to day operations across the business, including departmental admin staff, including introduction and training of new administrative processes so that Sales and other activities are effectively and efficiently supported.
  • Monitor departmental adherence to all company policies and procedures including Export/Import and cultural property provenance and endangered species protocols for consignments, Money Laundering and Bribery for vendors.
  • Ensure adherence to Insurance limits and restrictions.
  • Manage pre/post sale logistics including photographers, portering and property collections, off site sales planning
  • Oversee and manage building and logistics projects
  • Monitor and review service contracts with annual contract price-checking
  • Lead on “change management” for administrative staff
  • Manage processes and training for the effective management of damaged/lost property and difficult customer complaints to minimise any risk to relationship/reputation
  • Be proactive in sharing good practice and identifying opportunities for improving working practices/policies/systems across the whole auctions division promoting a culture of continuous improvement fed by staff input
  • Onboard and train new administrative employees, managing day to day HR, absence and holidays and act as Mental Health Officer
  • Lead on H&S across the business promoting safe and healthy work environment leading the H&S committee, ensuring all staff are appropriately trained, risk aware and health and safety regulations are followed.
  • Support and or lead on ad hoc projects as required
  • Actively participate in professional learning and training activities
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks or projects as requested.
