An internationally renowned artist, based in London is looking for an experienced, connected and ambitious senior salesperson to deliver excellent sales of the artist’s original artworks, as part of an overall strategy and positioning for the artist.
This person will be responsible for all ‘in-house’ sales of original works – comprising both existing business (i.e. sales concluded from the artist/ studio-originated leads and contacts) and new business, being sales achieved independently by the successful candidate from their network and initiatives. The sales operation will form an integral part of the studio’s overall strategy, which is an important work in progress. They will need to be self-sufficient and willing and able to oversee the full lifecycle of a client sale, bearing in mind the smaller infrastructure of the studio. Unlike in a gallery, the successful candidate will not need to compete for access to the artist (e.g. to discuss specific commission proposals) nor to the studio’s inventory; and will also enjoy insight into upcoming projects and bodies of work.
This is a newly-created position and the package has been crafted to create a stable starting point for the successful candidate’s bedding-in period. It will be reviewed in all respects after the initial period to ensure that it is working well for both parties.
- Substantial experience in international, blue-chip galleries
- Relationships with significant collectors across a range of geographies (The artist’s collector base and their strategy are both truly global, but e.g. in particular additional North American and Chinese / SE Asian connections would be interesting)
