Job description:

Our client is the leading international platform to buy, sell, and research art online. They connect millions of collectors globally with the world’s leading galleries and auction houses, with a dual focus on making the art market more transparent and supporting their partners’ online business growth.

Due to growth in the business they are seeking a Senior Specialist for Post-War and Contemporary Art to join their auction teams remotely, from one of several locations, including the West Coast (USA), Miami (USA), UK, Germany, and East Asia. This role is fully online, offers  a competitive  salary plus commission, and requires previous senior experience in an auction house or blue chip gallery.


Drive quality, strategy, and performance of sales:

  • Partner with Heads of Department, Senior Specialists, Specialists, and colleagues across the business to strategically approach the sales calendar and curated sales, with an emphasis on sourcing consignments to achieve monthly targets
  • Consign and sell works while building key relationships with clients on all sides of the business
  • Conduct best practices when pricing, negotiating, and reaching out to clients
  • Partner with Head of Department to strategize and curate upcoming curated auctions
  • Stay abreast of current markets, key players, and competitors while developing a competitive category strategy
  • Review sales results for new areas of opportunity to grow the business
  • Devise, implement and lead key sales and selling initiatives
  • Manage the successful completion and close of private sales
  • Act as thought-partner to Heads of Department and mentor to junior team members

Build client base and expand relationships:

  • Develop and foster a network of clients while actively building new, meaningful relationships
  • Act as a representative of the business and build a network of key influencers in the market
  • Use knowledge and expertise, such as writing articles, giving lectures, and more, to expand the businesses presence and create a competitive advantage
  • Develop and nurture clients to convert buyers and sellers, focus on growth, retain clients, and build loyalty

Maximize cross-functional partnerships:

  • Work collaboratively with internal departments to identify and develop cross-selling opportunities
  • Participate in strategy and implementation of marketing activities to drive successful sales
  • Maintain rich network of external contacts to support and promote the client’s brand positioning and selling initiatives
  • Cultivate a positive, motivated, and results-driven team atmosphere


  • 5-10+ years of relevant work experience in the primary or secondary art market as an auctions specialist and/or business driver with a track record of meeting and exceeding financial goals
  • BA in art history, art management, or similar, graduate degree a plus
  • Proven ability to initiate new business while maintaining existing client relationships
  • Knowledge of e-commerce platforms and online art sales
  • Must be able to meet revenue target with growth on a yearly basis
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and networking skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, revenue-driven environment
  • Strong sense of professionalism and discretion
  • Self-starter with the capacity to work in a team environment
