Job description:

We are seeking a dedicated and connected London-based Specialist in Prints & Multiples to join our client’s Auctions team. Our client is the leading international platform to buy, sell, and research art online. In this role you will be responsible for building and maintaining client relationships, securing consignments, and drafting and implementing sales campaigns to actively grow our network of buyers to expand the reach of our platform, while ensuring best-in-class client experience. Responsibilities:

Drive quality, strategy, and performance of sales:

  • Partner with the Head of Department, Specialists, Associates and various colleagues across the business to strategically approach our curated sales calendar, sourcing consignments to achieve monthly targets
  • Consign and sell works while building key relationships with clients on all sides of the business
  • Conduct best practices when pricing, negotiating, and reaching out to clients
  • Partner with the Head of Department to strategise business-getting in the greater London area, UK and, more broadly, Europe
  • Stay abreast with current markets, key players, and competitors while developing a competitive category strategy
  • Review sales results for new areas of opportunity to grow the business
  • Devise, implement, and lead key sales and selling initiatives
  • Manage the successful completion and close of private sales
  • Act as a “thought partner” to Head of Department and mentor to junior team members

Build client base and expand relationships

  • Act as an important representative to develop and foster a network of clients while actively building new, meaningful relationships, including key influencers in the market
  • Use knowledge and expertise, such as writing skills, speaking skills, and more, to expand the business’s efforts
  • Develop and nurture clients to convert buyers and sellers, focus on growth, retain clients, and build loyalty

Maximise cross-functional partnerships

  • Work collaboratively with internal departments to identify and develop cross-selling opportunities
  • Participate in strategy and implementation of marketing activities to drive successful sales
  • Maintain a rich network of external contacts to support and promote both our brand positioning and selling initiatives
  • Cultivate a positive, motivated, and results-driven team atmosphere

Qualifications

  • Several years of relevant work experience in the primary or secondary art market as an auctions specialist and/or business driver with a track record of meeting and exceeding financial goals
  • BA in art history, art management, or similar (graduate degree is a plus)
  • Proven ability to initiate new business while maintaining existing client relationships
  • Knowledge of e-commerce platforms and online art sales
  • Meet revenue targets and growth goals on a yearly basis
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and networking skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, revenue-driven environment
  • Strong sense of professionalism and discretion
  • Self-starter with the capacity to work as part of a collaborative team
