Job description:

An established Artist is looking for a Studio Manager to run and support the smooth operation of the studio. The right candidate will oversee and manage various aspects ranging from administrative tasks, gallery liaising and project management. A hybrid working model is available and desired for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Gallery relations
    • Act as a gallery liaison for 4 international galleries and foster relationships
    • Reviewing details for loan agreements and consignment agreements
    • Monitor listings and information disseminated about the artist in public platforms and partner websites, keeping galleries up to date on recent activity
  • Finance management in liaison with Accountant
    • Review and approve quotes for best deals
    • Agree and monitor budgets, ensuring costs are reported and processed accurately
    • Providing accountant with information on sales and monitor payment status
  • Project Management (archive, website, publications)
    • Strategise project timelines and reviewing priorities on an ongoing basis
    • Ensure deadlines, budgetary restraints, and agreed deliverables are communicated to relevant people and responsibilities are understood by all
    • Review and approve dedicated project costs
  • Administration and general studio upkeep
  • Diary and travel management
  • Overseeing and responding correspondence
    • Ensure studio is stocked with communal goods and office supplies
    • Act as primary contact for external suppliers (IT, insurances etc)

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in working in a managerial position for an artist or a commercial gallery
  • Highly organised and professional individual with the ability to foresee issues and to problem solve
  • Remain calm under pressure and work to multiple projects at the same time
  • Very good knowledge of contemporary art and commercial art industry
  • The ability to work to own initiative to deliver on projects.
  • Excellent written, administrative and budgeting skills
  • Excellent communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal
  • The ability to work to meet deadlines/multitask and will be accustomed to adopting a ’hands-on’ approach
