An established Artist Studio is seeking a creative, organised, and experienced individual for the role of Studio Technician. The role encompasses a range of hands-on tasks related to the production of artwork, studio organisation, and art-handling duties.
Responsibilities include stretching and precisely finishing paintings, preparing art-making materials for studio use, and maintaining organisational systems across multiple studio spaces. The candidate must be comfortable handling artworks and materials at all stages of the production process.
The applicant should be an independent, focused, and exceptionally organized individual with a desire to bring an artist’s vision to life through problem-solving and meticulous attention to detail. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rigorous environment is essential.
This is a full-time plus position that requires travel and offers additionally a bonus and competitive benefits to the base salary.
 Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on technical assistance during the art-making process
- Stretch, gesso, and fine finish canvas
- Prepare art-making materials, tools, and supplies for studio use
- Maintain consistent organisational systems across multiple studio spaces
- Perform art-handling tasks
- Liaise with the artist and other studio members to ensure projects remain on schedule
- Assist with general studio operations
Key Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in a studio environment, with a focus on hands-on technical assistance and direct artist support
- A demonstrated ability to work on paintings at all stages of the production process
- Ability to stretch and gesso canvas, producing exceptional finishes
- Knowledge of industry best practices
- An acute eye for detail
- Strong organisational skills
